Calling All Men: Where Are You Hiding?

It’s one of the great mysteries of modern musical theatre.

Across Plymouth. Across Devon. Across the UK.

Hundreds of women are happily signing up for singing, dancing and acting classes, while musical theatre companies everywhere are asking the same question:

Where are all the men?

We know you’re out there.

We’re looking for men of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels to join our friendly, ambitious and slightly theatrical family.

Never been on stage before? That’s fine.

Think you can’t sing? We’ve heard that before.

Got two left feet? We can work with that.

If you’ve got enthusiasm, a willingness to give things a go, and a secret desire to stand in the spotlight instead of watching from the audience, we’d love to meet you.

Of course, a natural flair for singing, acting or dancing is always a bonus. But many performers discover talents they never knew they had simply by turning up and getting involved.

Being part of a musical theatre company isn’t just about performing. It’s about making friends, building confidence, learning new skills, having a laugh, and creating something amazing together.

And let’s be honest, musicals need men.

Who else is going to play the heroes, villains, comic sidekicks, romantic leads, fathers, kings, pirates, policemen, revolutionaries, and all those other brilliant characters that make our shows come to life?

So if you’ve ever thought:

We are thrilled to be back in panto-land again this year, with another guaranteed family favourite, Sleeping Beauty!

Written and directed once again by Sounds member Mark Reid, following his success with Cinderella in 2025.

This year we have a brand new exciting development for our seating for the show, so we can promise that EVERYONE will have a great view of the action.

Our series of The Great British Bake Off has now come to an end and we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to watch and support us this week! 

We are overwhelmed at all the lovely comments from audience members. It has been such a joyful show to bring to the stage and we are so pleased you all felt that joy too.

The Great British Bake Off Musical

A heartwarming and hilarious celebration of baking, self-discovery, and community, The Great British Bake Off Musical brings the much-loved TV show to the stage. Packed with British charm, witty humour, recognisable characters, and toe-tapping songs, this feel-good musical is a real crowd-pleaser. Whether you’re a devoted fan of the show or simply love a great night of musical theatre, this production is guaranteed to rise to the occasion.

Performed by NODA award-winning local company Sounds Musical Theatre Company, following the success of The Witches of Eastwick (2025) and 9 to 5 The Musical (2024). A deliciously entertaining show for the whole family.
